My interest for popular rural culture brought me to compile ancient formulae for skin care. In all of them, the main and major ingredient was olive oil, and olive oil in our region is of excellent quality. The proximity of olive oil production and the existence of a wide variety of medicinal and aromatic wild herbs, together with the rich traditional wisdom in cosmetics, resulted in the project MATARRANIA Eco Cosmetics in late 2007.
Moreover, as a women and mother, for me it is important to bring up my children spending as much time at home as possible. Bearing this in mind, I refurbished the former barn of my house into a cosmetic laboratory to manufacture my creams. This, combined with information and communication technologies, such as rural Internet, allows me to reconcile the management, sales and labelling of creams with a morning walk with my baby.
In this project, I have the support of my husband, David, a great counsellor and someone who has a vast knowledge of the territory. He is also a stockbreeder and fond of nature. Besides, I have my baby Erik, a never-ending source of fun while I collect wild herbs.
